1. Educational Scope and Operational Model
Osmolangue operates strictly as an assistive client-side language learning platform. Our browser extension and web study room surface vocabulary, idioms, grammar patterns, and dual subtitles from authorized streaming video sessions for personal language acquisition.
2. Zero Media Storage Guarantee
Osmolangue does NOT record, download, host, scrape, redistribute, or store copyrighted video or audio streams from third-party broadcasters. All subtitle rendering happens ephemerally inside the user's local browser memory. No media files are ever transferred to or persisted on our servers.
3. Information We Collect and Process
We collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver your educational progress:
- Account Credentials: Email address and encrypted authentication tokens managed through secure Supabase Auth.
- Saved Study Items: Vocabulary words, example sentences, timestamps, and target proficiency nodes explicitly saved by the user.
- Usage Analytics & Quotas: Anonymized translation request counts to enforce fair-use tier limits.
4. Artificial Intelligence Processing
When you request linguistic decomposition or vocabulary lookups, isolated text snippets are transmitted over encrypted TLS connections to Google Gemini Gen AI APIs strictly using native JSON schema mode. User-submitted dialogue snippets are never used to train public foundational AI models.
5. Browser Extension Permissions Explained
storage: Retains your study preferences, active languages, and authentication session locally on your device.
webRequest: Detects official broadcast subtitle manifests (e.g. WebVTT or DASH/HLS subtitle streams) to align study cards.
scripting / content_scripts: Renders the bilingual subtitle interface and interactive click-to-lookup card over video players.
tabs / activeTab: Allows the popup interface to synchronize with the currently playing video tab.
tabCapture / offscreen (Desktop Chromium Only): Facilitates authentic speech alignment on desktop Chrome and Edge. This permission is omitted entirely from Mozilla Firefox and mobile builds.
6. User Rights, Data Portability, and Account Deletion
In accordance with GDPR (Articles 15-20) and CCPA, you retain full rights to access, export, or permanently delete your stored vocabulary and account records. You may delete your account and all associated study entries directly within your Study Room settings or by contacting our team.
